Burley Theatre Group was formed in 1997 to promote and foster an interest in dramatic art in the village. Since that time it has become established as an important part of village life, providing entertainment and fun for all ages. Regular productions are staged at the Queen’s Hall.

BURLEY IN WHARFEDALE

The Trust was established as a charity in 2003 to take over responsibility for certain assets and activities in the village that were more beneficial to a charitable status. These responsibilities have grown over subsequent years to include all the Scalebor Park communal grounds and pavilion, the Cornmill Pond, Pudding Tree and Jubilee Gardens.
The Trust is also responsible for coordinating the Christmas Lights and Christmas Market, Annual Duck Race, and the hanging baskets and flower tubs in the summer. We also assist other village organisations with their fundraising activities, usually on a match funding basis. These include drainage of the Scalebor football pitch, artificial cricket pitch, bowls club refurbishment and the new children’s playground . Particular emphasis is put on helping young persons.
Funds are raised through Trust membership of £12 individual, £18 family, £150 individual life, through donations, the Duck Race and other events.

BURLEY VILLAGE WILDLIFE GROUP

The group aims to promote the conservation and management of wildlife areas in the village and also to provide advice on wildlife issues (e.g. wildlife–friendly gardening). It currently manages the Sun Lane Nature Reserve (with support from BCC, BMDC and Wharfedale Naturalists).

A fun, friendly and informal choir.

The choir formed 7 years ago with approximately 35 members. Non audition, just come along and sing. We have a cheeky cuppa part way through rehearsal which helps choir members to get to know one another. Always room for more!

Cantores Olicanae

We are a mixed-voice choir of approximately fifty singers, established in the 1970s in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Each season the choir performs four or five concerts, with programmes including major choral works, popular Christmas music and light-hearted, jazzy summer entertainment.

Burley Men’s Shed 

Men’s Sheds are community spaces for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, woodworking and DIY for example, but for groups of men to enjoy together. 
They help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun, providing an opportunity for men in the Burley in Wharfedale area to connect socially, make new friends, share and learn new skills,  gain knowledge, and enjoy tea, coffee, and in our case, Bacon Rolls!
